Black Sanshin Bachi (Plectrum) - Water Buffalo Horn
Purchased for 2000 yen at a sanshin shop in Okinawa long ago. According to the sanshin shop owner, only one bachi can be made from the tip of a water buffalo's horn. This means only two can be made from a single animal.
The hole for the index finger is 15mm in diameter, which is the average size for an adult male's finger. There is a stylish pattern on the inside (please refer to the 3rd photo).
The tip of the bachi shows some signs of use, so I've priced it lower.
