Ortofon MC20 - Needle broken, repaired item. Operation confirmed good. Serial number: 914176
For sale is a repaired Ortofon MC20 with a broken stylus. Operation has been confirmed.
Serial No. 914176.
The item for sale is the main unit only, as shown in the photos. No other accessories are included.
Anything used for shooting or shown in the images is not included.
For the repair, a new 0.5mil conical stylus from Tokyo Jewel was used.
The case for the replacement stylus used is also shown in the photos for your reference.
Operation has been confirmed with sound output on my system, and it is in good condition with no distortion.
When a broken stylus is repaired, the mass, rigidity, and tip of the cantilever will differ from the original. Therefore, the sound will naturally not be the same as the original. However, while maintaining the good qualities of the Ortofon MC20, it produced a playback sound with good definition, delicacy, speed, and dynamism.
This is based on my personal impression, so please consider it as a reference.
Since a new stylus has been transplanted, it is possible to achieve playback sound close to the original new condition without damaging your records.
This is not recommended for those who prioritize originality over sound quality, but it is recommended for those who are truly particular about audio.
Companies like JICO also offer cantilever repairs, but they are very expensive.
As an extension of my hobby, I can offer this at a lower price, allowing you to enjoy the sound of an MC cartridge affordably.
The stylus pressure used for confirmation was 1.5g.
As this is a used item, there may be some dirt and scratches commensurate with its age. Please check the photos.
The repair method involved covering the original cantilever with a new cantilever, joining them, and securely fixing them with a strong metal adhesive.
This is not an original item, so please refrain from bidding if you are looking for an original.
Operation has been confirmed with sound output from both channels by me. Therefore, returns and refunds are not accepted. Please only bid if you understand and agree to this.
Shipping will be via Takkyubin Compact.
