[Junk] AKAI Reel-to-Reel Deck GX-280D with Instruction Manual

My father apparently bought this over 50 years ago, likely when he was single.
He mentioned to my mother before he passed away that something is broken, but since he is no longer with us, there's no way to confirm.

I've read the remaining instruction manual and confirmed it powers on, but I don't know how to attach the tape to the right reel or how to play it.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone knowledgeable could help.
