I was surprised by the price increase of good quality pure silk nagajuban (under-kimono) fabric.
Bargain items are cheap and poor quality. The fabric is thin and flimsy. Is this really made in Japan, Fukui? Most pure silk nagajuban fabrics look see-through. Even so, most of them are in the ¥30,000 range. If you touch it and think this is good, it becomes ¥50,000.
On the other hand, people accustomed to pure silk cannot wear synthetic fibers...
The only way to get a good quality, reasonably priced nagajuban fabric these days is to rely on the manufacturer's old stock.
