Rare Decibel Guitars AMX db2 7-String, Early Canadian Made Model
This is an early flagship model from the rare Canadian handmade brand, Decibel Guitars.
This is a single-cut AMX, serial number db2. It is a very early unit, the second to have a serial number. The first few units were made for artists like Misha Mansoor and Tosin Abasi, and there is footage of Tosin Abasi playing this very guitar at the 2012 NAMM show.
It features the same wood composition as Misha's First Decibel, with stunning figuring throughout the one-piece body. The neck has deep flame, an ebony fingerboard, and carbon fiber appointments throughout, making for an incredibly luxurious build. It is surprisingly lightweight for a 7-string, and the body contours are sculpted and designed for exceptional playability.
The pickups and electronics are prototype specifications and include an active boost circuit.
Overall, it is in good condition, but due to the thin tan oil finish, there are minor dings and signs of use. As a point of caution, there is a crack around the truss rod. According to the maker, early models had thin necks and shallow truss rod channels, so adjustments require care. It is currently playable without issue, but if further adjustment towards forward bow is needed in the future, repair is recommended.
A simple repair would involve gluing and clamping, while a more thorough repair would involve removing the fingerboard and replacing the truss rod. The original hard case is included.
