2 books of 10 sheets each, 14.5 x 9 cm. Year of the Monkey Kaishi (tea ceremony paper) with zodiac illustration. Tea ceremony, Way of Tea, Hot Water for Tea.

US Size:

These are leftover kaishi (Japanese paper) that were given out as New Year's gifts for the Year of the Monkey. Each bag contains 10 sheets, so 2 bags make a total of 20 sheets. The size is 14.5 x 9 cm (when folded in half).
They are unused, but the bags have been opened to count the sheets.
Kaishi are often used in tea ceremonies. They are placed under sweets as a substitute for a plate. Because they are made of thicker and more durable Japanese paper than tissue paper, they can also be used for writing memos, as coasters, or as small envelopes for giving money.
If you're wearing a kimono or other traditional Japanese clothing, keeping them in your sleeve (tamoto) makes them readily available and convenient to use!
