Aomori Prefecture Traditional Crafts, Natural Wood, Tsugaru Lacquerware, Kara Nuri
Natsume (Tea Caddy), Tea Ceremony Utensil, Tea Ceremony
Size: Approx.
Diameter 6 cm, Height 6.5 cm
This is a Tsugaru lacquerware natsume with a beautiful red and black pattern.
Kara Nuri (唐塗) is the most representative technique among Tsugaru lacquerware.
By creating speckled patterns with a spatula with holes and then applying multiple layers of colored lacquer, which are then polished, a colorful abstract pattern is born.
Because the process of lacquering, polishing, and buffing is repeated around 40 times, it is also colloquially called Baka Nuri (foolish lacquering) due to the immense effort involved. As a result, it is extremely durable, and its charm lies in how its luster increases with use.
Lacquerware is a utensil that offers the joy of nurturing it. When handled correctly, it can be cherished for a lifetime.
Slight unevenness in the lacquer on the inside -> Image 6
The paper box is damaged.
Although unused, please purchase with an understanding of long-term storage.
