It is produced by the Shimokita Hiba Craft Cooperative in Sai Village, Shimokita District, Aomori Prefecture.
Hiba wood releases a large amount of oil during processing,
which clogs the teeth of saws and files,
so it requires processing in a specialized facility like this.
The rounded shape of this particular item is
entirely hand-finished one by one by Mr. Ryota Mito of the Shimokita Hiba Craft Cooperative,
making it an extremely rare piece.
