Antique Bruges bobbin lace linen collar or headdress.
Features two covered buttons made from antique floral fabric and Liberty-style small floral fabric, allowing the lace ends to be fastened when overlapped.
A cool, all-handmade lace collar, with a lace tippet that tapers at the front and back ends.
The design features a daisy in the center, flanked by shamrocks. The threadwork for the petals and leaves is delicate. Bridges with picots connect the motifs and the motifs to the frame.
The outer trim has a gentle scalloped edge with soft, graceful curves. The edge is finished with picot lace.
The color is an elegant, slightly grayish ecru, like plaster, a graceful ivory.
The thread is likely linen. It has a smooth, crisp texture with a pleasant firmness, yet is also soft and supple. The arrangement of angles and intersections allows it to be worn as a collar, tie, or scarf.
