Beautiful Antique Paulownia Chest of Drawers - Large, High-Quality Japanese Tansu - Wedding Chest - Vintage

Large Paulownia wood Japanese chest of drawers.

Width 122 cm, depth 45 cm, height 177 cm.
Upper sliding door section, height 34 cm.
Inside, to the left are 2 shelves, each 17 cm high.
To the right are 2 drawers, each 10 cm high.

Middle section with hinged door, 6 drawers each 12 cm high,
and below them are 2 drawers each 12 cm high.

Lower section has 2 drawers, each 17 cm high.
There is a platform below them.

This is a large Paulownia wood Japanese chest of drawers from 50 years ago.
It was used to store kimonos as shown in the photos.
We stopped wearing kimonos about 30 years ago and it has been stored in a closet without being opened or closed.
As we have been disposing of kimonos,
we purchased a smaller Paulownia wood chest of drawers
and are now selling this one.

This was a high-quality Japanese chest of drawers at the time, and I believe both the material and the metal fittings are of good quality.
I have heard that such Japanese chests of drawers are rare nowadays due to a shortage of craftsmen.
The person in charge at Okawa Furniture told me that the metal fittings on the middle hinged door section are particularly valuable.
I am listing this for those who are interested.

It has large storage capacity and I believe it can be used as antique furniture for purposes other than storing Japanese clothing.

There is a small scratch on the upper section.
