Nagaharu Yatani Biography:
1915: Born in Ko-ura, Mihama Village, Kamo District, Shizuoka Prefecture (present-day Ko-ura, Minami-Izu Town).
1934: Left home and moved to Tokyo. Studied under Seihou Tanaka.
1946: First accepted into the Inten exhibition with Winter Mountain. Shortly after, studied under Kyujin Yamamoto.
1949: First accepted into the 1st Souzou Bijutsu exhibition with Lotus and Still Life.
1951: Accepted into the Shinseisaku Kyoukai Nihonga Gallery for 11 consecutive years.
1954: Exhibited at Keisoukai. Members included: Kyujin Yamamoto, Tatsuo Takayama, Hideo Nishiyama, Shuji Kawai, Nagaharu Yatani.
1955: Held a joint exhibition for 7 consecutive years in Shizuoka.
1960: Held a joint exhibition for 4 consecutive years with Junsaku Koizumi at the Chuo Koron Sha Gallery.
1966: Held 6 solo exhibitions at the Chuo Koron Sha Gallery.
1997: Exhibited Winter Mountain (1990) and Winter Day (1961) at the Kyujin Yamamoto and His Friends Exhibition at Narukawa Art Museum, Lake Ashi, Hakone.
1998: Held the Nagaharu Yatani Exhibition at Narukawa Art Museum, Lake Ashi, Hakone. New works and representative pieces were exhibited.
2000: Held the 2nd Nagaharu Yatani Exhibition at Narukawa Art Museum, Lake Ashi, Hakone. New works painted over the past two years were exhibited.
2002: Held the 1st solo exhibition at Yoshii Gallery.
2004: Held the 2nd solo exhibition at Yoshii Gallery.
