Hakutakudo Folding Fan - Higashiyama - Ayu
Hakutakudo, Established in 1718
Established in 1718 (Kyōhō 3) as Kanaya Magobē, a shop selling fans for temples in front of Nishi Honganji.
Later, we began manufacturing and selling Kyoto folding fans for general use and gifts. The renowned master of modern Japanese painting, Tetsuzan Tomioka, bestowed upon us the name Hakutakudo.
A proposal for the times, unbound by tradition.
We offer a wide range of products, from beautiful Kyoto folding fans to modern designs with lace and embroidery, including our popular Birthday Fans (hand-painted fans for every day of the year), many of which are exclusive to our main store.
Our main store also offers Painting Experience where you can paint your own favorite designs, and Tosenkyo, a traditional Japanese game, experience.
A Folding Fan Spreading Outwards for Good Fortune
Since ancient times, folding fans have been considered auspicious. In addition to their practical use for cooling down, they also symbolize spreading out for good fortune.
When opened, a folding fan allows you to enjoy its pattern, colors, and design, and when closed, it becomes compact and convenient to carry.
Hakutakudo aims to create products that shine by incorporating new trends into tradition.
