Moog Theremini / Requires Grounding
Moog Theremini (Theremini), a digital theremin with auto-calibration.
Unlike a regular theremin, it features a pitch correction function, allowing you to play not only with continuous pitch but also with accurate pitches and in tune with scales.
There are 22 types of scales, and you can freely set the highest and lowest pitches.
It has a built-in tuner, allowing you to visually check the deviation between the sound you are playing and the accurate pitch.
You can select from 32 preset sounds (including sound effects) based on the Animoog synthesizer, and it also has built-in effects for delay (stereo).
It has a built-in speaker (monaural) and a headphone jack, so you can enjoy playing it on its own without needing an amplifier or speaker.
The body is made of plastic and weighs approximately 1.4 kg.
This is a very cost-effective theremin.
Important note:
The instruction manual states, Use a grounded power outlet (see photos 8 and 9). However, standard household outlets in Japan are typically two-pronged (two-pole) and lack a ground connection. In such cases, as with many other theremins, you will need to provide a separate ground connection.
In my experience, playing without a ground connection did not produce a distorted sound or feel significantly different, but connecting a ground significantly reduced pitch wavering and made it much easier to play.
The situation may vary depending on your environment, but to avoid issues, please purchase with the understanding that you will need to establish a ground connection, unless you will be using it in an environment with a three-pronged outlet.
(I am unsure if other Theremini owners have connected a ground.)
You can establish a ground connection by connecting to the GND terminal on the back of the unit or to the ground wire of the power cord adapter.
If you are unable to figure out how to establish a ground connection through online searches, please refrain from purchasing to avoid potential issues.
Incidentally, grounding through the human body from the unit's GND terminal did not provide a sufficient effect.
Photo 7 shows everything included.
We ask that only those who understand the characteristics of a theremin and the nature of used items purchase this product.
