Imperial Loyalists Sword? Satsuma Style 2 Shaku 4 Sun Custom Iai Sword
I am selling this item to declutter my belongings. This is an iaido sword, possibly a Kinnoto, fitted with a Satsuma koshirae.
Blade length: 2 shaku 4 sun (approx. 74 cm), Moto-haba: just under 33 mm
Fuchi-kashira (plain iron), Kashira (cloud pattern), Menuki: none, Tsuba: Satsuma tsuba (with two holes), Habaki/Seppa: brass
Tsuka length: 1 shaku 3 sun (approx. 36 cm), wrapped in genuine silk in Utsukushiiro (light brown/beige) color. Hamon: Gunome with Yahazu-midare (arrowhead pattern).
The saya features intricate hand-carving, creating a unique pattern. A vermilion lacquer base is visible beneath. No looseness at the Koiguchi. It has been primarily displayed.
This is a custom-ordered sword from a Seki iaido sword maker, fitted to match a genuine Satsuma koshirae. It has a brass blade. The weight when drawn was 1,085g. The Sageo also matches the Utsukushiiro color.
