This is an art piece by Yoko Ishii.
It has been kept as part of a collection.
The original box it came in is still available, but it is made of paper and shows signs of age.
Yokai Inujima
Inujima, an island floating in the Seto Inland Sea. About 100 years ago, a copper refinery operated on this island, and the black sand called copper dross discharged from it still remains on the island today. Copper dross is a byproduct of the copper refining process and was originally produced as industrial waste.
Yokai Inujima is a three-dimensional work created with the concept of embedding this black sand into the eyes and breathing new life into it.
